Kauai

The first morning with rain,
so we decided to go for a great breakfast by the sea!

Ki'i Pohaku - Wailua River State Park
It rained so hard all night that all the creeks and rivers were roaring with red water
from all the red dirt.  This picture shows the fight where the river meets the ocean.
The river was roaring so hard that a log pushed through the ocean waves.

Two petroglyphs we found at Wailua River State Park

The rising river from all the rain.  The brown colour is from the red dirt.

Wailua Falls - after the tropical rain.
Again - red from the red dirt!
This was Wailua Falls a few days ago.

The Pride of America cruise ship is pulling up the anchor.
Many locals meet every week when the ship departs to wave goodbye.

Kalapaki Beach with a red ocean from the storm.

Shave ice for lunch?

With all the red dirt we thought we'd check out Red Dirt Shirts from the show "Dirty Jobs".

The salt pond at Salt Pond Park

The beach at Salt Pond Park.
Great spot for swimming with mostly locals enjoying the area.

"shhhh - I'm sleeping....", says the baby monk seal.

Hanapepe Friday Art Walk

Great food at these tents - burgers, pie...

Hanapepe Swinging Bridge - built 1911

View from the swinging bridge.

The owner of this house made a children's paradise in his back yard.
The box in the picture is around a little gate for kids, which is within the big gate.
Home of Storybook Theatre of Hawaii and Russell da Rooster.
There is a beautiful garden and a theatre for children's plays.

Good night!
